The following are tools you can use to ensure your building design meets the requirements of ADAAG:
ADA Standards for Accessible Design: The regulations for scoping and technical requirements in new construction and alterations of places of public accommodation and commercial facilities.
ADAAG Checklist for Buildings and Facilities: A comprehensive checklist prepared by the Access Board to assist individuals and entities in applying the requirements of the ADAAG to buildings and facilities subject to the law. The checklist presents the minimum scoping and technical requirements contained in ADAAG for newly constructed facilities and alterations.
Checklist for Existing Facilities: This checklist will help you identify accessibility problems and solutions in existing facilities in order to meet the obligations under the ADA. The goal of the survey process is to plan how to make an existing facility more usable for people with disabilities.
ADAAG Manual: Prepared by the Access Board to assist in the use of the ADAAG. It explains some of the basic considerations for accessible design and clarifies specific ADAAG provisions in an effort to address FAQs. The information contained in the manual is recommendation only and is not enforceable. Not available in electronic format. To order a copy, call 800/949-4232 (V, TTY).
Accessible Temporary Events: A Planning Guide: This manual provides information to assist planners, managers, operators, building owners, and participants in making temporary events accessible to people with disabilities to the greatest extent possible.
Access Board Bulletins: Series of technical assistance material prepared by the Access Board. Includes bulletins on visual alarms, text telephones, surfaces, using ADAAG, and parking.
Tech Sheet Series: A series of publications on the design requirements of the ADAAG. Provide scoping and design information on the requirements for toilet stalls, accessible routes, doors, lavatories and mirrors, and areas of rescue assistance.
